Thank you for using Capture Annotate ("the Extension"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we collect. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
Data We Collect
When you use the cloud upload feature, we collect the following data:

Note: We only collect data when you actively choose to upload a screenshot to the cloud. Screenshots that are saved locally or copied to clipboard are not sent to our servers.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely for the following purposes:
- Storing your uploaded screenshots on our cloud infrastructure (Firebase)
- Generating a unique shareable link for each uploaded screenshot
- Displaying the source URL as metadata alongside the shared screenshot
Data Storage & Retention
Your uploaded data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure (Firebase Storage and Firestore).
Retention Period: All uploaded data (screenshots and associated metadata) is retained for a maximum of 3 months (90 days) from the date of upload.
After the retention period, your data will be automatically deleted from our servers.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not share, sell, or distribute your data to any third parties.
Your screenshots and associated metadata are only accessible through the unique shareable links you generate. No data is shared with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other external services.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Right to Deletion — You may request the deletion of your uploaded data at any time
- Right to Information — You may request details about what data we have stored related to your uploads
- Right to Rectification — You may request corrections to any inaccurate data
Data Deletion Requests
To request the deletion of your data, please contact us directly via email. Include the shareable link(s) or any identifying information about the screenshots you wish to have removed.

Extension Permissions
Capture Annotate requests the following browser permissions:
- activeTab — To capture screenshots of the current tab
- downloads — To save screenshots to your local device
- clipboardWrite — To copy screenshots to your clipboard
- storage — To store your preferences and screenshot history locally
- scripting — To enable area selection and full-page scrolling capture
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes.
